Blooming cherry tree in October

Perhaps you are wondering why a picture of a cherry tree, which is obviously in full spring bloom, is being posted on October 1st. There is a simple explanation.

Within a few short weeks we will be facing cooler weather, the final pickup by the highway crew of our last leaf bag, the summer furniture will have been put away and the landscape will have turned grey. We'll then be trying to convince ourselves that we are looking forward to that first pristine snowfall, the crackling fireplace, finding that favorite sweater and the holidays ahead. However, we know in the back of our minds that its going to be ice, slush, grey skies, slick streets, high heating costs and we'll find moth holes in that favorite sweater...its winter. So, what to do?
