Haiti and...?

What is to be said about the terrible earthquake this week in Haiti? Words do not describe this horrible tragedy. I know the basic causes of such an event and can see the suffering that has resulted. And yet, I do not undertand it. Trying to understand or make sense of it seems to be beyond my capacity. Questions do not lead to an understanding, as no one can fully explain it to me. Why...to what purpose?

I think the need to know, the need to question the reason for the Haiti tragedy is because of our underlying impulse to predict how we might endure such a fate...could we? Is our universe really as random as it seems at times like this?That such events will happen again, is assured.

I hope we're spared, but ask that we have the grace to endure it, if needed.
